This Morocco desert tour from Marrakesh is a 3-day trip that brings tourists into the enjoyable Marrakech Fes desert tour we offer. It starts with an enjoyable ride through High Atlas where visitors observe the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass and explore the Berber villages and UNESCO listed the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.
Day two involves crossing the Valley of Roses and Dades Valley, visit Todra Gorges, then drive to Merzouga. Here, hire a camel to take you up the face of the Erg Chebbi dunes, and spend a night in a Berber encampment, under the desert night sky.
The last day tours you through the Middle atlas mountain where you will visit the cedar forest with the wild monkeys, Ifrane town, Midlet or Zaida for lunch. Finish the tour in Fes a city that provides a more cultural experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Skoura Palm Oasis

You can start your tour in the morning after being picked from your hotel in Marrakech. We will travel across the beautiful High Atlas Mountain pass at the Tizi-n-Tichka where you’ll get to see magnificent views of the Berber villages. Spend time in the rich UNESCO tapestry of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah that has been used as movies shooting location.
Lunch then drive to Ouarzazate and have photo break at Taourirt Kasbah. Carry on to Skoura Palm Oasis: there are so called ‘isolated kasbahs’ here, it will be worth while to spend another night in the picturesque guesthouse amdist the palms groves.

Day 2: Skoura → Valley of Roses → Todra Gorges → Merzouga

After breakfast proceed to the Valley of Roses and learn about rose products made locally. Proceed to the Todra Gorges passing through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, you will visit Tinghir with its palm groves and walk in the Todra Gorges.
Reach Merzouga in the late afternoon when you’ll take a camel ride to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch an amazing sunset and take a relaxing dinner followed by drumming and a night in a Berber camp.

Day 3: Merzouga → Erfoud → Cedar Forest → Ifrane → Fes

This is why you should start your day very early with the camel ride to watch the sun rise over the dunes, then have breakfast. Leaving Merzouga you will have a chance to drive through Erfoud – famous for fossils’ production and passing by the Tafilalt oasis.
Quench the thirst for some interaction with the natural world again at the cedar forests around Azrou to see monkeys then move to Ifrane, the alpine city referred to as ‘Switzerland of Africa’. Midelt or Zaida will be the last stop where a guide will take you to Fes to your accommodation or choose a location near it.

In fact, children are welcome to join and do take the camel trek as well. Camels can be driven by our guides, especially for the younger kids for their own safety and protection.

Where and how do people sleep in the desert camp?

In standard tented rooms, bathrooms are situated outside while visitors can request for style a tents with their own bathroom facilities at an extra charge.

How many hours is one actually behind the wheel each day?

Approximately 5 to 7 hours every single day is going to be spent driving with several stops for different purposes along the way.
